Corby Town  0-4  Brackley Town     Hillier Cup QF     7/11/18

Safe passage into County Cup semi-finals

Saints took on Corby Town in the quarter final of the Northants Hillier Senior Cup at Steel Park and went through to set up a potentially intriguing semi-final pairing next month.

While Jake Bettles and Zac Allen had early chances for the home side Danny Lewis was never troubled throughout the 90 minutes and it was the visitors who led by two goals at the break.  Captain Gaz Dean headed in from a corner after 20 minutes and Daniel Nti doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time finishing neatly again from a corner.

Nti bagged his second goal of the game shortly after the re-start with a free-kick from 25 yards that squirmed beneath the diving keeper and Shaun Jeffers was on the score-sheet with Saints’ fourth goal just before the hour mark, his first for the club.

Identifying Brackley shirt numbers, white on yellow, under the floodlights was as much entertainment as there was for the home supporters.

With Brackley Town Saints also quarter-final winners on the night at Desborough a semi-final encounter between the two at St James Park (obviously) may yet come to pass when the draw is made.
