This week has seen a really pleasing response after the Blyth result. At Blyth we were very slow out the blocks and I felt it was our most lethargic performance so far this season.

We were really pleased to not have to wait long to play the next game and Tuesday the warm up was much louder and you could sense a real determination to right the wrongs from the weekend. North Ferriby are having a tough season but you can only beat what is in front of you and I thought we controlled the game and could have had more goals, but a clean sheet and three points was the perfect response to the weekend.

Saturday was a tough match, Darlington were in fine form themselves and we knew they would have spells during the game. They have some very capable players so to come out with another clean sheet and three points continued our impressive home record. From a personal perspective I thought I was lucky to escape a red card having watched it back after the game. I do not know the specific detail behind the rulings, but the pass was slightly over-hit which meant the player was not going to get there. I do not know whether this has saved me on this occasion, but I am honest enough to say in my opinion it should have been a red which could have changed the outcome of the match.

There has been lots of mention about the pitch over recent weeks and it is really difficult to play on. I think both teams’ tempo slowed in the latter stages of the match on Saturday. But we are getting on with it and still trying to entertain and be attacking with our play.

Next is Stockport away in a great tie for both clubs. They will fancy their chances but so do we. Hopefully it will be an entertaining match and we can come out the right side of the result and progress to the next stage of the competition which Brackley has never been to in the club’s history. These chances do not come around very often so it is important we grasp it with both hands and give it all we have.

Thanks again for your vocal support over the last week - it does not go unnoticed!

Enjoy your week and see you at the weekend.
