The Saints Community Project ‘Our Christmas Day ‘

Wow what an amazing couple of days we have had ! The heavy snow hit Sunday and the cold weather prevailed, I was daunted by the tasks ahead on Tuesday morning to get the site and club ready for the finale of the year ‘ Our Christmas Day  together ‘ with numbers approaching 100 the pressure was on.

Arriving at the club convinced I’d be there for the next 48 hours, but community spirit was in abundance as people arrived to help and offer assistance.  A drop off area was constructed and a network of contacts were made to ensure everyone had transport and could get to the club safely with the awful road conditions.

The room was decorated and laid up in super fast style, the Brussels were peeled, the carrots topped and the turkeys were caught.

The most touching moment has to be when a group of local Cleaners from the group ISS walked in with a hamper laden  with goodies to donate to the project.  Community spirit is well and truly alive and kicking and a total reminder of how amazing that can make others feel.

A slightly slower start to our normal day with the icy conditions and ensuing everyone got to the club safely and the volunteer chauffeurs ferrying everyone in.

But by 11am entertainers John and Anita had the place alive with a traditional sing song of carols and Christmas songs really getting us in the mood and helping us forget the weather outside has been frightful.  Many of our members had spent the last 4 days isolated in their own homes.

A full three course traditional Christmas luncheon was served by the amazing staff at Tescos and our army of volunteers, finished off with coffee and mince pies.

Sleigh bells rang and Santa arrived with his sacks fully laden. A heartfelt thank you to Brackkey Town supporters ‘ The Brackley Massive  “ who have shown the project amazing support and provided presents for every single person . Everyone at the project  gets at least one present this Christmas. Huge thank you to the Wrapping elves !

Competition winners were revealed,  prizes were given.  Impromptu moments when community members took over the stage to say thank yous for making their Wednesdays and weeks so special... But it’s only so special as we are all there together each and everyone of us.  We make it what it is !

A more perfect and wonderful finish to the day couldn’t of been wished for as John and Anita took the stage again with a full rendition of party songs, lots were up dancing, singing and dancing in their seats.

The Saints Community members are an amazing team !

A very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2018
